From the gym to the mountains: the sports collection with which you will go out to exercise (and beyond)
We are Sport, the new Lefties collection, is everything we need to fulfill our goal for September: to practice some sport. A wide selection of garments and accessories capable of combining functionality with that push we need
After the most athletic summer of our lives – no matter if our physical activity was reduced to sitting around enjoying the European Championship or the Olympic Games – a certain spirit of sportsmanship has remained in the air. Who hasn't been surprised to imagine, in that oscillation of Olympic medals, what would have happened if we hadn't abandoned our basketball or volleyball teams, or if we hadn't stopped taking tennis or swimming classes. The benefits of exercise go beyond the physical aspect.
“On the asphalt, the mountains or the gym, you are your only rival and the driving force to always keep going. No matter the rain, the cold or the heat: the adrenaline runs through your veins with each heartbeat and with each exhalation to never stop. To show you that nothing is impossible, that the difference between winning and losing lies in your attitude ”, reads the manifesto with which Lefties accompanies the launch of his new sports collection, We are Sport . A proposal precisely adapted to any discipline and environment, with garments and accessories to create a kit that meets our objectives.
Because the clothing with which we exercise is not frivolous, it also influences our personal brands. Just remember those legendary swimming suits that the Olympic Committee decided to ban in 2010, claiming that those who did not use them were at a clear disadvantage compared to the rest. Lefties bases his proposal on the two requirements that we demand from sportswear: functional garments, with light and technical fabrics that enhance movement and comfort , and an attractive design, perfect for beginners, that motivates us to take on the challenge.
When in doubt, a good basic
Where do we start? “You have to take it easy and, above all, enjoy yourself and have a good time. People do sports for many reasons: each person has to find their own”, the Spanish and European triathlon champion, Ana Burgos, reminded ICON. We may not be ready for the wild workout routine of Chris Hemsworth or Chris Evans yet, but Marvel superheroes do drop hints from the gym of the basics every man needs to train.
A style decalogue with which Lefties coincides. For high-intensity indoor training, such as CrossFit or HIT, the firm offers shorts with an adjustable waist and breathable fabric that adapt to the movements of the body regardless of the difficulty of the exercise or print the trace of our effort. Basic short-sleeved t-shirts coexist with others with a tighter cut and wide straps, which serve both to exercise the muscles and to show them off.

The most elegant in the gym
From the Liberia kit made by Telfar, full of nods to traditional African clothing, to that Italian character that Giorgio Armani once again printed on his country's uniform. In the different Olympic changing rooms there is an implicit message: that the clothes with which we do sports say more about us than we think (when they do not say much worse things). Lefties proposes to update the sports kit with shorts, joggers, tops, sweatshirts... under a color palette marked by the monochrome trend and discretion.
Because you don't have to say everything about yourself either, neutral designs command —from white to black, passing through blue, green or maroon— that do not give rise to error and easily combine with each other. Classics, yes, but not boring. The garments are filled with logos and reflective stripes that reaffirm their energetic sports DNA and, combined with our usual wardrobe, they become urban pieces. Some even up the ante by picking up the boldest trend on the catwalk: neon colors. There are jackets, t-shirts or windbreakers in vibrant yellow and fluorescent green. Also backpacks, fanny packs and slippers to sign up without taking risks.
The infallible tracksuit
At this point we do not reveal anything new if we say that the tracksuit, almost with the same fury as the sneakers, has become the fetish garment of fashion. From streetwear to haute couture, from the gym to telecommuting, it is the most democratic and versatile piece in the men's wardrobe. The Lefties proposal is designed to accompany runners in their races against the current. A set of two pieces and interchangeable colors, to configure as we please, made with breathable fabrics and a cut that fits each body.
“Only you decide when and how you want to move in your day to day. You do not want to set new goals, just enjoy the tranquility of a walk on the asphalt or in the mountains”, they defend from the brand. Thus, the jacket stands out for its relaxed silhouette and functional pockets; the pants, better jogger cut, for a better fit at the waist and ankles. The athleissure look is completed with sneakers in vibrant colors and slip-on silhouettes that absorb impacts so that nothing can stop us.
layered uniform
Strength, endurance, perseverance, ambition... To extract the benefits of each discipline, you need a uniform capable of adapting to any moment. Clothes that protect us from the circumstances when we decide to go trekking or invent routes in the open field. And fabrics that prevent excess sweating and fatigue at the height of exercise. The key? “It starts with the inner layer. It keeps you dry by rapidly evacuating sweat and moisture when you perspire, maintaining a comfortable feeling of freedom of movement due to its perfect fit to the body”, advises Lefties. It is about incorporating light garments, such as inner shorts or long tights, that adapt to our body like a second skin.
The second layer should also be soft to improve the feeling of comfort and conserve our body heat without sacrificing its breathable properties. Finally, the exterior, “protects us from the elements. It blocks wind and water so even the worst conditions won't stop you during your workout." A requirement that Lefties translates into a series of jackets, padded jackets and windbreakers in technical fabrics with a 90s aftertaste so that absolutely nothing can stop us.
