In the preview of Black Friday: 5 considerations to buy with peace of mind and without falling into scams
From this Friday the 26th to Monday the 29th of November, one of the most popular days for online commerce will be celebrated: the long-awaited Black Friday.
This event, which brings lots of offers and many more buyers than before, usually always ends with claims and even complaints, either due to problems with the products or even scams.
That is why users must be vigilant and take all necessary precautions. For the same, we give you some tips to consider.
1.- Be careful with the S: the links must start with “https”
It is important to make sure that you are buying from an official store, and the best way to check it is that the url begins with the code "https" instead of the traditional "http".
That "S" indicates that the website is secure for data transfer. Also, you should see a green lock or bar to the left of the link. This is another indicator that the page has adequate security to make a purchase.
2.- Official sites
Another important fact to avoid scams or tricks is to go to the official sales sites that are already positioned or have recognition by the brands they work with.
3.- Review the conditions of changes and returns
Whether in clothing, footwear or any product you want, you must know the deadlines that exist to make changes once the purchase is made.
“The most important thing is to review the conditions of changes and returns. When the purchase is online, the consumer does not have the opportunity to see and touch the product, and this becomes especially complex when looking for the right size in clothing or footwear”, says Alfredo Leyton, country manager of Dafiti Chile.
He recalls that the Sernac has regulated this issue.
4.- Listen and read experiences of others
When choosing what or what store to buy, the best option will always be to listen to the experiences of others. We can ask friends about how it went with a certain brand or with the website itself.
Also, you can read comments from other buyers on social networks and their experiences during this Black Friday.
Sernac Tips
As internet sales are already more than common, the National Consumer Service (Sernac) reminds us that there is a right of withdrawal.
In it, they state that buyers have a period of 10 days from the time they received the product to withdraw from the purchase.
However, they call for information to find out if the store adheres to the right of withdrawal, since some do not. "The recommendation is to choose those that do adhere to this right," they say.
In case you need to make a claim for any problem, this can be done by entering the Consumer Portal, visiting the regional offices or by calling the number 800 700 100.
Similarly, if you do not want to make a claim, but do leave a record of a sales problem that could have happened to one or a third party, you can make a Citizen Alert through the Consumer Portal.
