Porsche or Puma join the Dax in the extension of the index up to 40 members
The extension, contemplated for years, was driven as a reaction to the collapse of the German payments company Wirecard, which fell out of favor in 2020, just two years after its rise to the reference index.
A larger index implies that it will be more diversified and potentially will be more stable.
The other new participants are the Airbus aircraft manufacturer, the online fashion retailer Zalando, Siemens Healthineers, Symrise, Hellofresh, Sartorius, Brenntag and Quiagen.

The changes enter into force on Monday, September 20.
Wirecard's bankruptcy embarrassed the German government and stained the country's reputation as a safe investment, which accelerated the reform of the German stock market.
Earlier this year, other changes were already introduced into the Dax, such as the need for their members to publish their financial statements quarterly, as well as the requirement that future DAX candidates show a positive Ebitda figure in their last two financial reports.
"The reform will probably have an effect on the Index Sector Exhibition. An analysis of the most promising candidates that will be incorporated into the index shows that the majority belong to defensive sectors, such as health, internet and growth values related to consumption", explained Mathieu Racheter, an expert by Julius Baer, before knowing the new members.
Therefore, this analyst added, the Dax will continue to be a relatively cyclical index, although it will be slightly more exposed to defensive and growth values after the reform.
