The relaunch of the Blizzard Gear Store is scheduled for early next year. However, to prepare for this, the Gear Shop will be unavailable for a short, but indeterminate period of time as these unknown changes roll out. Although Blizzard promised more details soon, the vague terminology and emphasis on an "experience" involving "collectibles" has led many to assume that Blizzard would start selling NFTs.
Blizzard's vague announcement isn't yet confirmation that it's getting into NFT trading. Many people believe that this could mean that Blizzard will ditch its logistics partner and Gear Store provider, Fanatics. The sportswear supplier, which has been running the Blizzard Gear store since 2019, is known for producing poor-quality clothing at high costs and lousy customer service.
Because existing Blizzard Gear Store gift cards won't be valid after the change, some believe it's switching providers once again, and considering the controversies surrounding Blizzard amid its many lawsuits, such microfixes would be welcome developments.
Many fans won't be happy if Blizzard enters NFTs. Despite their ability to make money, the many negatives involved with them far outweigh the positives among the gaming and artist communities, as evidenced by the massive backlash and boycotts felt by companies like Artstation and Discord when they announced that the NFTs could be in your future.
