The shop window announces the closure of the shop in the center of Malaga.
The COS store on Calle Larios will close on September 25 due to the H&M ERE
The emblematic Calle Larios will soon lose one of its tenants. The fashion firm H&M is immersed in an ERE at the national level, and it will splash Malaga. Specifically, it will affect the store of its COS (Collection of Style) banner, in the center of the capital: it will close to the public next Saturday the 25th, according to company sources told SUR.
The ERE will mean the disappearance of some 30 stores in Spain. Initially, the Swedish company raised an employment regulation file that was going to affect more than a thousand people, but after a preliminary agreement with the unions last May, the figure was reduced to 349 dismissals.
COS is already announcing its closing in its shop window, and offering up to 70% discounts on its garments until its farewell. Once the blinds are lowered, the firm will be left without a store in Malaga, but it does have representation in the province: specifically, in the La Cañada shopping center (Marbella) on which, so far, it is unknown if it will continue the same fate. or whether it will continue to serve the public.
seven years of history
H&M opened this store on Calle Larios in December 2014 along with another from its group, & Other Stories, which was fired in May 2019. Currently, the group has eight stores in Malaga, which represents a figure of almost 200 workers, since the two COS stores are joined by six H&M stores located in the Larios shopping center and Plaza Mayor, in the capital; La Cañada and Puerto Banús in Marbella; Miramar in Fuengirola; and El Ingenio, in Vélez-Málaga.
In Andalusia, the ERE that the company faces will initially involve the closure of five stores: three in Granada, one in El Puerto de Santa María (Cádiz) and the one in the Center of Malaga.
