The main supplier of counterfeit clothing in Santiago falls: Garments were sold in the Meiggs neighborhood

What happened?

After an exhaustive investigation, Carabineros del OS9 managed to arrest one of the main suppliers of counterfeit products in the Meiggs neighborhood sector, Central Station, Metropolitan region, who provided clothing to street and established businesses.

Facts

After dozens of police interventions, officials identified criminal patterns that were linked to street commerce in that neighborhood.

"Carabineros managed to intervene in a factory where counterfeit items were made. Once the dynamics of the events and its workers were established, it was possible to indicate that this company functioned as one of the main suppliers of street trade in the Meiggs neighborhood and surrounding places" , detailed Lieutenant Javiera García of OS9 of Carabineros.

It was then that on November 4 of this year, the main person involved in this crime was arrested. Likewise, a month and a half later they would detect one of the largest counterfeit clothing factories that has been seen during the course of the year.

Upon admission, sportswear, divers, T-shirts, as well as industrial machinery, labels and other elements that were used to make these garments were found.

Millionaire booty

During the procedure and search, 1,552 garments of different brands and models and four computers from industrial machines that were used for embroidery were seized.

Finally, everything seized gave a figure close to $83,915,000 million pesos.
