A carer who stole thousands of pounds from a vulnerable wheelchair-bound woman has been caught after her husband overheard her talking about it in her sleep.
Ruth Fort stole US$9,858 (£7,220) from the woman and spent it on a family vacation to Mexico.
Her husband, Anthony, became suspicious when his wife began spending large amounts of money. He finally went to the police when he overheard her wife talking about her while she was sleeping and saw in her bag a debit card belonging to the nursing home resident.
Talking to the Liverpool Echo, Anthony Fort said: “Actually at first it was more like instinct. But when I found the debit card in her bag, I knew. It was heartbreaking.
“I loved Ruth deeply, but I couldn't ignore what she had done. I was horrified that she could steal from a vulnerable person and I had to report her."
