Meghan Markle has returned to public life after almost a year away from her. This does not mean, however, that during this time we have not seen her, which has happened but how and when she has decided: in the explosive interview with Prince Harry that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex granted to Oprah Winfrey, in video calls from his home in California, during the visit to the Los Angeles cemetery coinciding with Remembrance Day -which also ended in controversy-, when they announced the pregnancy of their daughter Lilibet. But, in reality, she has not faced an act with photographers and the public since her farewell in London on Commonwealth Day on March 9, 2020. For her farewell to the British royal family, she chose a striking green dress by Emilia Wickstead, to match with the lining of Harry's jacket. In her return, things have been quite different, although no less studied. Meghan has returned yes, but not to the United Kingdom, but to New York. Settled in the United States, the couple is clear that this is where they have to carve out their future. His first appearance was on Thursday to meet with New York Mayor Bill de Blasio and New York Governor Kathy Hochul at the One World Trade Center built on the site of the twin towers. A visit that occurs a few days after the twentieth anniversary of the September 11 attacks and for which Meghan chose a navy blue look, a hue that Prince Harry shared for his sober suit.
Meghan wore wide-leg pants with a turtleneck, an Emporio Armani coat, and Aquazzura pumps. A perfect styling for a day at work without any stridency, completed with discreet earrings and a highly polished updo. Asked how her visit to New York was going, Meghan replied: "It's wonderful to be back." It was the first time for her after Lilibeth's birth.
For a second meeting the same day, with UN Ambassador Linda Thomas-Greenfield, Meghan changed her outfit. She traded her black coat for a camel one by Max Mara and the pants for a knee-length pencil skirt. Harry did the same, in his case, adding a blue tie.

On Friday they met with UN officials, including Under Secretary-General Amina Mohammed, to discuss the importance of vaccine equity, women's empowerment, the climate crisis and mental health. Meghan's style formula was similar although she, on this occasion, opted for a look in earth colors. She was made up of wide pants and a satin blouse under a Max Mara camel coat whose rolled-up sleeves revealed the Cartier watch and bracelet that she hasn't taken off these days in New York. The earrings and the hairstyle, exactly the same; designed so that little would divert attention from her work. The folders the two of them were carrying made it clear that they had come to the UN to work and not to show off her style.
That same day the royal couple visited a Harlem school. An appointment that Meghan took the opportunity to read her book The Bench to her children and for which she, of course, changed her outfit for a more relaxed, colorful and informal one. She let her hair down - the only time she's done it these days in the city of skyscrapers - and chose a wide red pair of pants and reversible cashmere jacket by Loro Piana. The velvet shoes are designed by Manolo Blahnik. Harry ditched the suit and tie for beige slacks and a blue polo shirt.
On Saturday came the most spectacular moment: Meghan and Harry took the Global Citizen stage in Central Park, an event in which 70 artists have participated in 15 different cities with headquarters in New York with headliners such as Jennifer Lopez, Billie Elish or Cold Play asking for greater awareness to combat climate change and solidarity in the distribution of vaccines against Covid with the most needy countries.
Meghan chose a short-sleeved white minidress with flower appliqués at the bottom of the skirt and the top. A vintage-style design by Valentino that the Duchess wore with her hair in a more informal updo, with loose strands on the sides of her face, and a black coat and accessories: pumps and bag. Two-tone styling that Harry copied with a black suit and white shirt without a tie. Meghan's bag also had a tribute to Princess Diana. In 1995, on the occasion of the opening of an exhibition in Paris sponsored by LVMH and Christian Dior, the Princess of Wales received as a courtesy gift a bag from the Maison that she was very enthusiastic about. She premiered the Chouchou shortly after in Birmingham and Dior saw an opportunity in Lady Di's detail. A year later she released a model inspired by that with the name of Lady Dior. Now, it is Meghan who has worn the version baptized as Lady D-Lite and personalized with the acronym DSSOS (Duchess of Sussex).
