Raffia bags (which are not carrycots): the trend for summer 2021 that will make the most classic women fall in love
TrendsAll the summer character of carrycots, with the attractiveness and comfort of the usual bags. This is the hybrid that will succeed this summer
We have lost count of the times we have talked about the binomial carrycot/summer. The image of Jane Birkin strolling through the port of Cannes clinging to her basket has remained so etched in our retinas that it is difficult for us to conceive of a day at the beach without a carrycot, or a walk in the sun with its corresponding basket. But what if these types of bags are not for you?
Although it's hard to imagine, many people don't quite see themselves combining their outfits with a basket. Or perhaps in your case it is simply a matter of pragmatism and its concept does not quite fit into your lifestyle. Either way, you're in luck. Because in an industry where trends don't even stop to gain momentum, carrycots are no exception and this year promises to be the year in which a very different type of bag finally achieves trend status. We are referring to the raffia bags that, although they share material with the carrycots, have little to do with them.
Conceived as a classic and traditional bag, the only nod to summer comes precisely from the raffia, which replaces more common materials such as canvas or leather to transform some of our favorite models into a hybrid between the all-round bag the life and summer aesthetics of the baskets or carrycots.
A conjunction that, although we had already seen it before (firms like Loewe have been betting on this combo for years), this summer promises to take root with force among the most watched summer street style trends. And it is that although they are one of the most recurring bets among style prescribers, there are many firms that this 2021 have found success in this formula. Thus, from Celine to Fendi, through the aforementioned Loewe, a multitude of houses offer some of their most iconic models reinterpreted in raffia. A safe bet for the most classic and lovers of it bags who, however, do not want to ignore trends.
Now the only dilemma will be whether to risk taking it to the beach or not...
