The CNTA inaugurates a new headquarters in Mercamadrid
As of this Thursday, CNTA (National Center for Technology and Food Safety) has an office in Mercamadrid. Thus, Mercamadrid and CNTA join forces with a double objective: to promote innovation and provide added value to Madrid agri-food companies.
The event was inaugurated by Jose Miguel Herrero, General Director of the Food Industry, who highlighted the importance of the collaboration between CNTA and Mercamadrid, and the impact it will have on companies and entrepreneurs in the sector.
The person in charge of the CNTA, Héctor Barbarin, has indicated that this new headquarters "responds to the strategies of approaching its member companies and of growth in the leadership of the modernization of the Spanish agri-food sector, promoting innovation through the knowledge and experience of the technological center, which will help Mercamadrid companies in their objective towards innovation”.
For his part, the General Director of Mercamadrid, David Chica, highlighted that "it is a source of pride that CNTA thinks of Mercamadrid within the framework of its growth strategy" indicating that "together we will position Mercamadrid as a benchmark business ecosystem in food innovation, with impact on the whole agri-food chain”.

For his part, the head of the CNTA headquarters in Madrid, Miguel Mayordomo, shared the results of the study on the current situation of innovation in Mercamadrid Companies. Mayordomo pointed out that four out of every 10 companies consulted in the study on the state of innovation in Mercamadrid companies already have a department or figure responsible for innovation.
During the closing session, the president of Mercamadrid pointed out that "the CNTA headquarters has the objective of helping companies solve their technological challenges and improve their competitiveness, with a focus on innovation, food safety and technical training. “We are facing an opportunity to generate activity, employment and knowledge”, he concluded.
This new collaboration will be a key piece to continue with the challenge towards innovation in the agri-food sector.
