Due to the fact that the growth of infections and hospitalized by COVID-19 in the State of Mexico has stabilized, the entity will be able to move to the orange traffic light shortly, if that trend continues.

“We all want to return to activities and we all want it to be as soon as possible. In order to have a safe return, we have a plan that will allow us to resume activities in an orderly, responsible and phased manner, always thinking about taking care of everyone's health and taking care of the family economy," said the Governor of the State of Mexico, Alfredo del Mazo, in a message spread on social networks.

The president explained that the plan for a safe return to activities was worked on jointly with the authorities of Mexico City and consists of opening some activities, in order to support the economy of more families.

For this reason, when the traffic light turns orange, the first phase of this plan will be activated and will consist of the opening of small businesses such as stationery stores, clothing stores, toy stores, furniture stores, repair shops, electronics stores and all kinds of retail stores. and wholesale, as long as they do not generate crowds in their establishments.

Del Mazo specified that personal service businesses such as dry cleaners, hairdressers, workshops, appliance repair shops and maintenance in general will also open, in addition to the manufacturing industry and restaurants, hotels, department stores and shopping centers with a capacity of 40 percent. Religious services may also be resumed with a maximum capacity of 30 percent.

“The next phase will be the yellow color, when we change to this color, restaurants, department stores and shopping centers will be able to increase their capacity to 60 percent. In yellow, other activities and services will also be added, such as museums, cinemas and theaters, which will operate with a capacity of 60 percent, "added the governor.

Without specifying times, he explained that when the traffic light turns green, all activities will resume without capacity restriction, in addition to educational activities.

However, regardless of the color of the traffic light, it will be necessary to maintain a hygiene measure and a healthy distance to avoid contagion or a possible regrowth.

“Each stage of the traffic light requires that we all act with great responsibility, that we maintain hygiene measures, a healthy distance, and the use of a face mask. The use of face masks is going to help us a lot, ”he said.

The president recalled that the epidemiological traffic light in Mexico City is the same as in the surrounding municipalities, so they are working together with the capital authorities so that the activities that will open in each of the stages are approved.

"The Toluca Valley still shows an upward trend in the number of cases and hospitalized, so it is likely that the opening for the Toluca Valley may be deferred for a few days compared to that of the Valley of Mexico," Del Mazo advanced.

However, he reported that as of Tuesday, June 23, parks, zoos, natural areas, water activities, sports fields and all outdoor physical and recreational activities will open with a maximum capacity of 30 percent.
