SUPPORT LETTER TO OUR VALURE PARTICK (ARGENTINA)
Mr. Luis Fernando Perez
Director of Infocatólica
Brother in Christ:
A regular reader of Infocatólica greets you. I congratulate you for your courageous work in spreading faithful Catholic doctrine and for the examples of so many Catholics around the world who give their lives for Christ the King.
I am writing with the aim of making known the case of our parish priest who these days is being lynched by the media in all the local and national media for promoting chastity and modesty in the Catholic parishioners of the town of Lima, Province from Buenos Aires, Argentina. I would like the truth to be known through a medium like Infocatólica, which is objective and fair, and that the example of this priest serves to encourage other priests to come out of lukewarmness and defend the Eucharist, defend the House of God and help recover the sense of what is sacred. You can confirm everything that I am going to tell you in the attached links:
For a long time, Father Carlos Scarlata and a group of faithful have been concerned about the constant and frequent lack of respect for the house of God and the Eucharist on the part of some faithful, mainly women, who with their highly provocative clothing they offend the Blessed Sacrament and are an occasion of temptation for the men who attend the Mass. The Parish priest repeatedly asked to attend the temple modestly dressed, especially women. This past summer (December 2015-January-February 2016) the audacity of the “Christian” fashions was unbearable to the point that the Pastor and some of the faithful had to put up very specific signs indicating the clothing not allowed inside the church. These are the posters that unleashed the anger of a part of the population.
Some women ignored the homilies and the posters, so the parish priest, with the support of some of the faithful, very discreetly began to ask some women to leave the church, go home to change, and then come back This generated diverse reactions, the majority accepted fraternal correction but a small group became upset and persisted in their conduct, including some "catechists". This behavior also occurred in girls who attend catechesis, who are frequently dressed by their mothers in leggings, shorts, tight clothing, etc. The most serious problem began when some concerned catechists, with the support of the priest, demanded that the mothers send their daughters dressed decently. This condition generated complaints from a small group of mothers who repeatedly refused to abide by the rule. The most serious conflict arose because a group of mothers began to request through social networks that the parish priest be dismissed and, not satisfied with that, they called local media to slander the priest and to request his removal, as can be seen on the following links:
http://impactolocal.com.ar/2016/05/08/sacerdote-prohibe-la-entrada-a-la-iglesia-a-ninas-con-calzas-o-jeans-y-un-grupo -of-madres-request-their-removal/http://www.enlacecritico.com/destacados/que-pasa-en-la-parroquia-de-lima-un-cura-en-el-centro-de-las -criticisms-we-are-alarmed-say-the-neighbors). And as you know, once the news goes up to the cloud, everything unleashes more quickly. It did not take more than a few hours for the national media to see the opportunity to obtain a rating with the news, because scandals involving Catholic priests "sell." In a few hours the parish was harassed by journalists. And of course the media approach was tendentious, slanderous, partial and condemnatory against the poor priest, as can be seen in the following links:

What Jesus looks at is the heart of the person who approaches him, the Lord will never pay attention to the clothes”. To listen or read the full statements see the following links:

http://impactolocal.com.ar/2016/05/11/el-obispo-contradice-al-polemico-cura-de-lima-la-iglesia-tiene-la-puerta-abierta-para-todos -and-without-discriminating-to-anyone/ The Bishop has ordered the removal of “discriminatory” posters and indicated that similar things should not be placed in temples. He described the placement of the posters as "totally misplaced." Perhaps the Bishop has not found out but the public disavowal that he has made of the priest has unleashed the emboldening of a part of the population (they began to yell "pedophile" at him in the street) to such an extent that the police have started to disposal of the priest in case it is necessary and a radio announcer recommended that he suspend public acts on the occasion of the patron saint festivities to avoid outbreaks of violence towards him.
Lastly, I would like to tell you that we have requested an audience with the Bishop to tell him the truth. At the time of writing this letter, he had been waiting for a response for 5 days and the only thing I received was an email from his secretary sending me a text with the Bishop's statements without clearly indicating whether I would be received.
I have not been able to reconcile the pastoral instructions of our Bishop with what is said in the Word of God in 1Timothy 2:9, Mt 11:15, Gn 3:21, Ex 3:5 and Psalm 69:9 just to cite some . I also find it difficult to reconcile it with the commandment "You shall not covet your neighbor's wife", Ex 20:17. And neither with canon 1262, of the 1917 Code of Canon Law, which mandates "women, however, must cover their heads and dress modestly, especially when they approach the Lord's table." And neither with the Encyclical Sacra Propediem of Pope Benedict XV.
An anecdotal detail, one of the mothers (I find it hard to remember the last time I saw her at mass) who have called for the dismissal of the parish priest and who accused him of being “discriminatory”, has her public Facebook wall riddled with jokes strongly racist and obscene, to show a button.
The faithful who support Father Carlos feel dejected in this fight, please help us with your prayers and also, if you can, spread this news. I also ask the pastors (priests and bishops) to take care of the Blessed Sacrament, not to allow the house of God to continue to be desecrated and to be brave and speak clearly to the Catholic people the truth that is Christ, as does our dear parish priest, Father Carlos Scarlata. I trust that the Holy Will of God allows these evils because it will bring out of them a greater good.
May God bless you and Our Lady of Luján continue to bless your courageous work.
