Star Wars: Visions already has a trailer and release date
When it was announced that the George Lucas-created franchise would be added to the Mickey Mouse-owned Infinity Gauntlet, most fans feared the company's familiar tone would ruin one of the greatest stories of all time. Episodes VII, VIII and IX seem to have confirmed this fear... but all the stories told around it have become true gems of Star Wars lore.
Thus, we have enjoyed more than outstanding stories with The Mandalorian, we had the honor of seeing one of those that could easily be among the best movies: Rogue One, we have complementary animation stories like The Bad Batch and now a very interesting experiment: Visions.
What is Star Wars: Visions about?
The concept reminds us of the concept of Netflix when creating Love, Death + Robots: invite the best animators in the medium to create self-contained stories, in short film format, to tell fantastic, futuristic, action or melodramatic stories, which build in total an anthology of visual tales.
In Visions, Disney's bet is similar to that of What If...?, where stories from the same universe are broken down that are not connected to each other, but at the same time they are connected by theme. Thus, the stories told in Visions are part of the Star Wars universe, but each one is told in its own way, both narratively and visually.
And this is because Disney and Lucasfilm invited some of the best Japanese animation studios to each propose their unique vision inside the Galaxy, and to tell stories that could be inserted at any point in the central chronology of the biggest family problem in the history of movies about space.
What are the Star Wars: Visions studios?
The guest studios and each of the episodes they created are:
When, how and where to see Star Wars: Visions?
According to the trailer just revealed today, the series will be available on September 22 and... yes, only through Disney+. The good news is that, unlike the latest Marvel Studios series, everything seems to indicate that Visions will be released in its entirety on the platform, not by weekly episodes, so if you have enough time and are one of those people who loves marathons, you could watch the entire first season in one day. We leave you the trailer so you can start to enjoy the animation work that this new proposal will have:
