The leader of UGT Madrid resigns after denouncing corruption in the union
The general secretary of UGT Madrid, Luis Miguel López Reillo, has resigned from his position this Tuesday, days after denouncing a plot of corruption in the union to the Police, as communicated in a Twitter message to the affiliates.
In his tweet, as union sources have informed EFE, López Reillo affirms that he resigns due to "political responsibility and personal dignity" and explains that "the police investigations will continue to clarify the facts."
Last Saturday, the newspaper El Mundo reported that López Reillo had reported to the National Police a possible case of corruption in the union, which could have diverted at least one million euros from the Salary Guarantee Fund (Fogasa). López Reillo would have been warned by economic analysts close to the union who detected alleged irregularities in the management of these funds, for which he himself brought these indications before the State Security Forces and Bodies.
